While I hold to the motto: "Life is too short for QRP", it is amazing
what can be done with limited power, either by choice or by necessity.
I was on 10 meter SSB yesterday, and was called by a few dozen
stations, mostly European, and a couple of South Africans, most with
good loud signals. One of the loudest who came bombing in here was
running 5 watts from Austria. I don't know if he was on top of a
mountain, or if those leather shorts have anything to do with it, but he
was loud. He said just a wire antenna.
I guess as much as anything, being at the right place on the right
band at the right time, can make a big difference.
Hope those who feel challenged by antenna or power limitations will take
heart and keep plugging away.
