I wonder if you tried the address without the www.  With my old Linksys 
router, if you use the www, you get the error.

Yep, that is the right address, and each time I've tryed to open that =
web page, I get this message, "internet explorer cannot display the web =
page."

  a router, it does have a hardware firewall.  You need to open the =
modem at=20
  http://www.192.168.1.254 unless they gave you a different address.  =

  and clicked on my brand, Gateway, and clicked the routers page, and =

  there were just the wb series, and the wr series of routers.
  So, this modem doesn't have a router.
  But I feel a bit better, since I've made some progress.
