Well, folks, here's how far I've gotten with getting on hf, I have =
not!!!
First, I still can't use the handiham remote base. The software won't =
respond.
2nd. Echo link is, well, who knows how I can get that to work.
I couldn't get them my license on Thursday night, because my number =
wasn't in the stupid phone book, my number. So, I couldn't validate via =
telephone.
I tryed to fax it, and the cover page, and they didn't get the cover =
page!
So, then, tonight, I tryed to upload the file, and the .....s you fill =
in the blanks, did not and would not, accept, a text file, which I =
scanned. They only want a .jpg, a .png, or a .tif, file.
So, now I have to get my friend, Rick, wo8m, to fax the cover page and =
the license, all over, again!
3rd. There is another hf remote base, which is ran by kb8zgl, and he =
said I can use it with skype, and I don't have to use echo link.
However, it's so damn complicated to use. He says Rick, can help me, =
since he can see it.
That's really great for a blind person!
The key commands are so damn confusing!
4th. The mfj 949E antenna tuner. I got the tuner, but we can't get on =
the balcony to do anything with the antenna we have up and try to tune =
it, since they just coated the balcony with varnish, or whatever the =
he.. they use for outside coating, till Monday, and even after we can do =
that Monday night, folks, I just went to the mfj enterprizes web site, =
and downloaded the manual for the 949E, and it's a pdf. So, I thought, =
ok, I'll just convert this to a word file, or, to a text file.
Not so fast! My computer froze up 2 times when I tryed to open it in =
Adobe, and I couldn't convert it to anything to read, and like I said, I =
couldn't open the damn thing in the pdf format!
So, I have no idea what I'm doing, after I disable the autotuner on the =
570!
I know the antenna plugs into the tuner, but I have to plug the jumper =
cable which goes from the tuner to the 570, and I thought I'd be able to =
read the manual to tell me how to do it! I use to have the kenwood =
ts120, and loved that rig, and there was no auto tuner. So, I just =
connected the jumper cable from the antenna tuner to the antenna plug on =
the back of the 120.
5th. No ride for field day! I got a call from a guy who said he'd get =
transportation for me to field day, so, I called him back and left a =
message, and no call back. I just wonder if he'll do it or not, since =
the hams in this town are all talk and no action!
I'm not gonna chase him, I don't play the chase game. I don't know if =
any of you do, but I won't play that game. When someone says they'll =
call ya back, they need to call ya back.
I swear something doesn't want me on hf ever again!
And don't mention 2 meters, that's not working either!
So, I wonder if I'm the only one not on the air today?
