As previously mentioned, I listen to WWV, 27.185, 27.025
and flip through the ham bands to see what seems to be going on,
especially ten meters. If ten is hot right up to 29.68, I check
30-50 MHZ. There are still a lot of commercial two-way
operations

	If ten is open and it is Sporadic E, I also listen on 6.

	I also have 55.24, 55.25 and 55.26 MHZ programmed in to
memories on my receiver as it will tune up to 60 MHZ. 55.24-26
is the video carrier frequency for TV Channel 2 and is still
active in Mexico and the rest of Latin America for the most
part. If you hear carriers, something is going on.

	Around here, 55.25 is not a good listening frequency
because of cable leakage but 55.24 and 55.26 are quiet as a
toom when the bands are dead. If you hear anything, you know
there is some skip.
