I have a bit of a problem with my ISP, Pixius. They've made noises
about wanting me to sign an unacceptable three year renewal contract.
On old technology. And, while I used to like them a lot, they shafted
some of their customers so I no longer trust them. If they would just
let me go month to month I'd keep them, but I'm afraid that might not be
an option. I am in a rural area with no access to DSL or cable and am
currently connected via antenna to a tower about ten miles away. They
have newer technology, but I'm too far away to take advantage of it.
Satellite technology is a step down if for no other reason than limited
data.
I've researched "Broadband Q," www.broadbandQwireless.com, and they
seem to be pretty good, but their web site is a bit thin on details. (
I think that they somehow piggy-back onto Sprint wireless.) They claim
unlimited data at up to 6Mb/sec download rates.
I run two desktops, two TIVO's, a DirecTV, a laptop, and several Apples
of various kinds on my local Wi-Fi.
I have a friend that uses Sprint with a dongle that plugs into her
laptop. She's happy with it, but I don't think that would work well for me.
Does anyone know anything about Broadband Q? Or make suggestions with a
major phone carrier ISP?
TIA,
Dean Kukral
