Hi Howard, I have the same rigs as you and am interested in 
setting up the cross band feature on the 71a.  I've never even 
checked it out.  I guess the steps to set it up are in the menu 
but I haven't even looked for that, probably for the same reasons 
as you.  Do you think it's accessible, and do you know if you 
could set the rigs up so you can work an HF frequency from your 
handheld combining both rigs? My 480 is the 100 watt version, not 
the one that requires the two power supplies.  I think I need the 
200 version to do what I was asking, do you know if that is the
