Hi Lou,
As far as I know, with either JAWS or Window-Eyes, this is not the same as
with Outlook or Outlook Express. In the old days with those 2 programs, you
could display the address bar in the main window and highlight it by
pressing the tab key and then use the up and down arrow keys with the
control key and space bar to select and unselect addresses. You need only
press enter
after that and a new message would open with all of the addresses in the To
field of the message ready to go when you typed and sent your message.
Since the demise of Outlook Express and the introduction of Windows Mail and
Windows Live Mail in Windows Vista, while it is still possible to do this
with a mouse for a sighted person, the above method does not work. For some
reason, the screen reader companies have not caught up with this technology.
The easiest way to do this now is to open a new message, then from the tools
menu, choose select from contacts. You then have to highlight each address
individually and then tab to the to button, the CC button or the BCC button
according to your preferences for each recipient and press that button.
When you are done selecting each recipient in the proper manner, then you
press the OK button. If you have concentrated and done it right, you should
then be able to use the reading keys and tab to the various header fields
and see your list of recipients in their proper fields.
I really hate this since if you have a large address book and want to select
individuals that are not contiguous in your address book, it is much more
time consuming. You could if you want set up various groups and sub groups
in your address book for ham radio, technology and so on, but that's grist
for another mill. One does get used to the ritual however.
I hope this helps and good luck.

Subject: OT accessing address book to highlight multiple recipients
I'd like to send an email to a bunch of hams. They all know each other so,
in this case, I don't need to hide their addresses. I'm using Windows Mail
which is essentially outlook express. You'd think after nearly 20 years of
using computers, I'd know how to do this but <sheepish grin> I don't. Any
help appreciated. Thanks and 73. Lou WA3MIX
