The stock knob is about a quarter inch in diameter, and there isn't a lot of
room for a larger knob. We filed a notch in the knob. Since the
potentiometer doesn't cover the full 360 degrees, but only about 300, north
is straight up, both south directions are at the extremes of the range, but
east and west are a little above horizontal. So you can only approximately
set directions.
