Hi John, Well I know about verticals needing radials, but I don't
think this one even has lugs or a way to attach radials. I asked
my friend who bought one. At any rate, the antenna can be tuned
on all it's bands, I guess that's 75 through 6 meters. Who
knows, maybe it's just a giant dummy load, Smile! Jim WA6EKS

a lot of verticals advertise they don't need radials but that's
not true,
they may work without but not well.

Subject: The Alpha 1 antenna?

Hi Danny, have you ever heard of the Alpha 1 antenna? It's a 13
foot telescopic whip that you mount on a mast, no radials
required, just a 20 foot run of coax from the antenna to a
matchbox, then another short run from the matchbox to the rig.
It's on sale for $99 this month from somewhere in Kentucky, I
think called the Radio Mart. Normally sells for $199 and is
supposed to be good from 75 meters through 6. Sounds too good
to
be true but a local friend of mine got one and is trying it out.
I've talked to him but don't have much information yet. Jem
