Linda,

When you secure your router, you will pick a password for your wireless 
computers to use to connect to your router.

The password will only be needed by the computers that connect to your 
router wirelessly.  If, for example, your desktop computers are connected 
via an Ethernet cable, the password will not be required for those 
computers.

Hope this makes sense.
