Apologies if I've told this before back in the mid eighties at w3vpr one of the guys decided to refurbish an old 4 mhz spark transmitter.  When he keyed that thing up he blew the 7500volt transformer on a nearby power pole and the whole town of Davidsonville was without power for 3 hours.
