Hi,

I just checked Associated Radio in Kansas City and they have the TMV71A for
$384 and the VGS1 for $69. From my experience with them, they don't charge
to install the VGS1 in a radio either. Of course there would be a bit for
shipping too.

Hi
I did a quick search on E-Bay and found that the Kenwood
TMV71A is running over $400. However, the one supplier has over ten of them
left. Then all one needs to do is find that pesky voice chip.
     I hope this helps.

God bless,
Mark

Hi Chris,

On the subject of a mobile VHF radio the most accessable one that I know of
is the Kenwood TMV71A. Several of us on this list use that radio and are
very happy with it. With the VGS1 installed most of its functions are
available to you.

Subject: Hand held questions?

Hi everyone,
I just got my technician ticket, and I'm wanting to upgrade my ham
gear already... I'm using the kenwood THF6A right now, and I love it.
I'm wanting to get a waterproof handheld, because my family does a lot
of boating and things like that. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Also, I was wanting to also update to a mobile setup as well. What is
good as far as accessability?
Thanks,
Chris Harrington, KD8RPH
