You can, you need to go into the Menus and turn auto-announcement off.

I also changed the default PFA from 200 to 201 to get the S-meter reading on 
receive and Power Out on transmit.  You can always get the frequency by 
pressing enter twice.

I programmed the PFb key for 202, which will read SWR, ALC, and Processor 
when transmitting.
