Webster's:
scorn n [ME, fr. OF escarn, of Gmc origin; akin to OHG scern jest]
Vox (espaniol): escarnecer (del ant. escarnir < germ. skernian, mofarse).
tr. Hacer mofa [de uno] zahiriendole.
escarnecidamente adv. m. Con escarnio
escarnecimiento, escarnio m. Befa tenaz que afrenta.
Italiano: schernire vt. to mock, sneer at.
scherno sm mockery, derision.
Io non es secur del prototypo de italiano schernire e scherno. Es le
origine le OF escarn, o le OHG scern? le e- possibilemente es un
idiosyncratia del francese e le espaniol. Piet? Vos ha un bon
dictionario etymologic del italiano....
