I personally would say get the license as fast as you can.  You can always 
pick up on the theory as you go and if you're on the air, it is easier to 
talk to others about this stuff.  Just my opinion.
You won't be the first one that ever got their ticket not knowing a 
resister from a capacitor.  You can learn the theory as you go.
