that is what we all do, fiddle with them until (1) the QRM is 
lessened, (2) the signal sounds good. :) it is an "ear" thing, after 
all, no matter what the frequency is we're changing, it is our ears 
which tell us what we like after all. :)
so, you're doing the right thing, natively correct. :)
