When you turned the ring down did it change the SWR or were you just
checking for noise? Quite a few of the guys here shortened the top
section of the antenna 6 inches. They talk on the low end of 10 meters
and they said this brought the SWR down. I am thinking of trying it
since I have an extra top section.

I was surprised at the noise when I compare it with the zepp. I cranked
the
rings all the way down, thinking that would help on 17. I might not have

noticed the noise floor, if I didn't have another antenna to compare it
to,
except on fifteen.
