Take a look at the cushcraft range of verticals.
One of them will also work on 160 metres with an additional loading coil, albeit with a narrow band of 15kHz owing to the high Q.

As far as the wire antenna in the roof is concerned, how much space do you have?
Is it an apex roof?
Some dimensions would be useful.

It doesn't really matter how much distance you have between the wire and the timber, so long as it is dry, and not too much metal associated with it.

Hi list.
I'm having problems with my R7, instead of trying to fix it I want to 
replace it with something that will work on 80 meters.
I would like some ideas as what kind of ground mounted verticals to look at.
I don't have room to run radials and the land lord won't let me put anything 
on the house.
Also I would like to put a wire antenna in the attic.
I'd like it to cover as many bands as possible.
