So last night on NBC, Parenthood touched on the subject of wheat allergies.
The character Crosby has a young son that was presenting with a rash,
painful joints, and gas. The Dr told them that the child probably has a
wheat allergy and to remove it from his diet for a few days to check things
out. The mom was all for this and was willing to do what it takes to get
her son healthy. Crosby "dad" commented " Not to sound skeptical, but a
wheat allergy, it seems like it's the snuggie of diseases...everyone has one
this year.
I am very happy that wheat/gluten is getting some script time on prime
time. I am also cool with the fact that a parent would question the
disease. (my own husband has issues with this).
What I would like to see is this show running with this story line and not
making it a one show conversation. Good for you NBC/Parenthood for making
this a subject that people are talking about on social network sites.
