On my Win 7 Asus in the Taskbar by the clock in the notification area I
have an icon for the Elan touch pad. If I right click the Elan smart pad
icon I can choose two things. If I choose Property of Smart Pad, I get a
window to open showing mouse properties. In the open window there is a
Tab for Elan. If I click the Elan tab, I find a button to click to Stop
Device or Enable Device. Perhaps this will help if you have the Elan
software installed.
