It sounds like your friend's keyboard layout has been changed to a Dvorak
layout or something like it. Go into /Control Panel/Keyboard/Keyboard
Properties/Input Locales/Properties and check and see that the language is
set to US English (assuming you are from the US and using some version of
Windows - all users of this list don't fall into these constraints) and
layout is set to US (there are several different layouts to choose from.)

Can someone tell me how I can change a keyboard seting? My friend has a lap
top which, when pressing shift and 2, the @ comes up with double quotes
instead.
This is most annoying when typing in email addresses.
