I have the ts590 and bought it within a month of its release.
I do not use an amp, so cannot comment on the power spike issue except to 
say that I have read of this issue with all manufacturers. in the past few 
years.

My  590 has been trouble free since its purchase.
It is by far the most accessible rig I have ever used.
I would highly recommend it for the price.
