I'm writing about my second visit to Amelia Island. I have had difficulty staying in hotels and never know when I'm going to encounter a problem. As I did the first time, I stayed at a magnificent B&B, the Fairbanks House. I asked Theresa Hamilton, the owner, to be careful with cross-contamination in addition to providing gluten-free breakfasts for my son and me. They were quite gracious about it.

For dinner, I went to the Beech Street Grill, which I know has a varied menu and several options. However, it was Restaurant Week, and I really wanted to try their Prix Fixe meals. I alerted the waiter, who spoke to the chef. Fortunately, they were willing to adapt the dinners to make them gluten-free and I had an truly delicious meal, worry-free.

To my delight, I found gluten-free cookies in my room when I returned to the inn from dinner, too.
