  Putting EDO (c. 1996) into a 286 machine from 1988 (when FPM was a
funky new thing on some 386s), well, if it worked, it would be a
miracle.

  The last 72-pin SIMM I saw from a PS/2 had *TEN* chips on it, of at
least four different part numbers/suppliers.  I have no idea how/why,
but I wouldn't expect any generic RAM to work in that machine.
