HI Butch,

There are several ways to determine whether you are using a 32- or 64-bit
system on Windows 7. I think the easiest method is to run the system
Information applet.

1. Press Ctrl+Escape. The search edit field appears.
2. Enter "system Information", then press ENTER. The system Information
window appears.
3. the application window is divided into two panes;the left pane contains a
tree view containing numerous categories, the right pane contains the
attributes for a specific category. Use the up and down arrow keys to
highlight the "System Summary" node. Press TAB to move focus to the
attribues pane.
4. Use the up and down arrow keys to highlight the "System Type" attribute.
this should indicate whether you are using a 32-bit or 64-bit system. On my
laptop, for example, the attribute contains "x64-based PC".

Windows 7 computer?

I have been thinking about picking up a cheap seven machine just to learn
about it. I saw an e-machine at Wally world the other day and was empted,
but it didn't say whether or not it was 32 or 64 bit. Any way to tell? I
really want 32 for compatibility with some of my older stuff so that is what
I'm looking for. Also, this was home, and I'd really seven pro. I don't
want to open up the old argument about 64 bit being the future and so forth,
I know what I want and why. Just wondering if anyone knows of something out
there not to expensive. This e-machine was $300 and they had one with 20
inch monitor for $400. Just looking.
