Nice one Tim,

Yes, it's a pity the ACOM 2000A doesn't cover 6 metres. I was wondering about the Discovery from Linear Amp UK, which also covers 4, but then I'm not sure whether it's worth doing from this QTH.

We're in a bit of a hole, so I only really get out beyond the locals when there's sporadic E or other quite rare phenomena operating. I've yet to catch an aurora for instance.

Well, perhaps one day!

I have an old Mutech XVTR for 6 and 4, which delivers 25 Watts on each band, but I haven't run that up for ages. Now I have the K3, that takes away even more incentive, but I could run it up for 4 via the second antenna on the K3. I also have an 8 ele for 4, but I'm told I can't have any more masts and I don't see how I could get it on the tower along with the quads. That's the down side of quads! I think I've done all I can by building the 6 metre one inside the HF setup.

Anyway, I'm still listening on 6 for the next opening. I've heard a weak German who clearly couldn't hear me but, I think conditions are either in your favour or not on that band and perhaps a linear wouldn't add much in the long term.

Cheers for now,

Terry
