The 270 I had, as I recall, had the inverter built in.  I owned both 
radios at one time, well not at the same time. <smile>  I thought it was 
so cool to have everything in one package.  The 260 I had had a tuning eye 
and a switch on the back to switch from a c to d c.  The 270 did not, you 
just switched power cords.
