Hi, folks.

Well, I have decided to send my TW1 talking watt meter in for repairs.

The more I checked things out, the more convinced I became that the volume
control needs to be replaced. Compared to my TW2, it is rather loose and
wobbly, which probably means that there indeed is something electrically
wrong with it and the connections involved.

I had a nice conversation with Duane at LDG today, and he assured me that he
thought he could do the replacement at no cost, and that he knows how
important these units are to us. He assured me further that he would get it
serviced and back to me just as soon as he could.

What this means, of course, is that, for the time being, I'll have to do any
HF nets barefoot, so we'll have to keep that in mind until I get the unit
back from the shop.

Since LDG isn't making the TW1 and TW2 any more, I'd suggest that anyone
who is having problems with their units contact Duane, and see if he can
help them as well.

Duane did tell me that LDG has no plans to resume production of the TW1 or
TW2, and that it was a one-time deal, aimed to meet the needs of blind hams.

He did say that, if anyone else is interested in producing more of these
units, he'd be happy to share his design with them.
