Dear Subscribers:
My computer is a Packard Bell 486DX running Windows 3.1.1 with a
9600bps
internal Modem. As you can see I'm not on the cutting edge, but I will be
taking
a course that requires Internet access and will need to upgrade to a faster
modem, not purchased yet.

Hi Ron,

To install a new modem in a Packard Bell you will have to disable the one
built into the Mobo. THis is done either through a jumper on the mobo or by
going into the BIOS setup and disabling the onboard modem.

Check your manual.
Good luck
