Hi all
I've been a lurker on this list for at least a year or so now, so I thought
that it's about time that I finally introduced myself.
I'm Tracey, living in the Netherlands with hubby and children. Diet-wise
we're kind of a cross between Weston Price and Paleo (ie, we use some grains
but I soak everything in whey beforehand).
In theory, I'm all for Paleo, but in practice, I find it difficult. Buying
food in this country is extremely expensive, especially when it's organic
and unprocessed. Some of my shopping is from the supermarkets and some from
the local farm but sourcing good quality organic meat is difficult and I
find that most of the time we have to resort to packaged organic meat.
But whilst I believe paleo is right in terms of our species, I find it
difficult to ethically 'square up' with myself. With 7 billion of us on
this planet now, if we all went paleo and ate animal proteins for every
meal, it feels to me that they'd be nothing left in the sea or land!
Whilst on the one hand I see how grains are 'not right' for us, on the
other, I can also see that it's a convenient (and cheap) way to feed a
planet. So, what do others feel about this? How do we do paleo in an
ethical and sustainable way?
Best wishes
Tracey
