Hi Kris,

I haven't used hrd software though I've always been going to try it one of
these days. I like turning knobs and switches and tuning up doesn't bother
me.

One thing that's very important with the stepir vertical is a good radial
system because the stepir works as a quarter wave radiator so the impedance
is low at the feed point.

I've heard only good things about the stepir vertical and I'm sure your'll
enjoy it!

Hi Bob,

I'm so glad you have a Steppir. Do you use HRD with your setup?

I downloaded HRD a couple YEARS AGO AND DIDN'T THINK IT SEEMED TO WORK VERY
WELL with a screen reader.

I'm going to get the vertical, and from some folks who already have it, I
understand it works wonderfully. I'm in the middle of a subdivision and
don't have a real large yard, so it's the best I can do for now.

I probably won't order it until this fall, but I'm really excited about it.

Thanks much.

Kris

Hi Kris,

I own a Stepir 3 element beam and it works very well for me. The way I use
the beam is to connect the control box to the rs232 port on my ts590. The
antennas tuning automatically follows the transceiver's frequency. The
antenna works GREAT!

The control box has 15 buttons on its face and since they are discrete
buttons, they can easily be located.

Hi All,

I am considering putting up a Steppir vertical antenna, and am wondering if
any of you are using one and if so, is there a way to use the control box?

I talked with the people at Steppir this afternoon and they said the new
control box would not be accessible. He said it has buttons, it's not a
touch screen, so I wondered why you couldn't memorize the buttons and know
what they do. He also said they recommend using HRD to control the radio.
This should make things work since I have speech and raille on my computer.

I would appreciate any information any one can give me.

73 to all

Kris
