Steve,

You're right about the Drive connection.  That 13-pin connector gives you an 
audio input through which you can feed a line level signal if you want to. 
When you do that, you either have to use one of the PTT connections on the 
13-pin socket (not the one that the mic uses), or assign it to one of the PF 
keys.  I've hooked up an LDG RCA14 to the 13-pin socket so that I have 
access to all of the connections through RCA jacks.  I was thus able to 
connect a digital recorder so that I could record and replay what I hear 
over the air.
