Hi Mike,
I use a Palstar manual tuner between the output of my ALS1300 and my
antennas. The only reason that I use the internal tuner on my rig is that
on 6 meters, the swr is a little high if I leave the amplifier in line.
This does not happen on any other band below 6 meters and therefore I leave
the internal tuner off, but it does help on 6 meters.

Subject: ALS-1300 operation
Hi Bob:=20
Do you use an auto tuner with the als-1300?=20
Using the 590's tuner, isn't that just tuning the input of the amp?=20
That's how I always thought it was, turn off the rigs tuner and use a =
tuner on the other end to tune the antenna to run an amp through.=20
Considering the ALS-1300 doesn't have a built in tuner, just foldback =
protection, I think your antenna would have to be pretty much cut to =
resonance or at least down to a 3/1 SWR on all bands.=20
Do you see any gain on 6M this way, how much power out do you get?
