Action and reaction, this is what matters to potential African dictators. They push the population to a corner and guage their reaction. If all the stake holders stay mute or just release tame staements, the dictator rides roughshod through everybody. Senegal was on fire yesterday, and at the last minute, wade and his minions realise that they have a potential middle eastern style revolution on their hand. Sensibly, they retracted on the 25% requirement to win elections. Gradually, they are realising that they risk taking the country to the brink. It is up to the population, and in particular the opinion leaders, to take a firm and clear stand on issues that matter. This only way to encourage democracy in the country.
