That goes for cars too. Wired Magazine reported that you'd have to drive a Prius 100000 miles to break even from all the environmental costs of manufacturing.
Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of an electric car, but mining copper makes big holes in the ground too. Maybe GM had the right idea with hydrogen.
