Hi Morees,
I am quite interested in this unit. Feel free to write me off list but
I do have some questions. Like, does the GPS work in small towns, or rural
areas? Can one buy maps for their local area?
     Thank you for your help.

God bless,
Mark WZ0K

God Loves you!

Subject: Re: gps for the blind

Hello list, I have using this device since early March as I'm a recent =
graduate of leader dogs for the blind, I think for me anyway I did find =
a device to be very useful when being an area that I never been in =
before, and most certainly was not familiar with the street names. Also =
I did find that the device did reasonably well when walking it look a =
little but sluggish and telling me but I don't across the street but =
being heavily into computers I am certainly aware that no GPS is ever =
going to be perfect, also I found that whenever you win in a vehicle =
that at high speeds and feeds GPS location was a bit off. I guess I say =
all about to say this just like our radios allow us to help people in =
emergencies, have fun on the bands, GPS is a tool, it is not a means to =
an end. I got been trying to say is nothing will please everybody but I =
have found the captain to be quite useful in situations that I have used =
it in. In one case I even used it to help in a situation where I would =
have been somebody drive me in week out lost. But I've also had =
situations where I've had to reboot the device three times in one day. =
Again each situation is different. I hope my comments have helped, and =
have not muddied the waters more so. Best 73 used everybody kd0iko.
