This brought to mind the great fellow "Diamond" Jim Brady, who, before I
replaced my 1950's oil burner upstste was my "heating guy" who could be called
at any time.
When I would wake up freezing ( you could see your breath and any part of your
body not under the covers was like ice) I would just call Jim who, in addition
to being a heating repair man, was a dairy farmer. He would always arrive at
about 4:30 am AFTER having milked the cows. By the time my wife, a normal
sleeper, would get up the house would be warm. The only time he ever came
after 5 am was following a difficult calving session.
