Justin,
I always used a soldering gun; Weller. I guess I taught myself - I'm
a leftie so things I have learned on my own I do left handed. Vice
Grips are a nice tool and plan on not getting things right the first
time or even the second time!! I used to solder a lot of PL259s and
now, honestly I buy a lot of pre-made jumpers but still can do a
connector if I must!! I'm an old fart now and my hands don't have
the dexterity that they had fifty years ago and the little plugs of
today would probably not be possible for me to do now, but a totally
blind person CAN solder, burned fingers and all. And you'll feel
really good about your abilities once you get it down.
