Especially if you have a beam, you should check out ten meters in the early
morning in the next week or two. Here on the east coast, we have had a
fantastic long-path opening to Hong Kong and southeastern China (BA7 and BD7
callsigns) from about 1200 to 1430Z. I worked VR2XMT (Hong Kong) and four
China stations on SSB and CW this morning while waiting to go to a medical
appointment. Amazing signals, considering that over there it would be 8 or
9 PM and they are not in the Southern Hemisphere. Apparently New Zealand
and South Africa have been worked by some US stations on six meters in
recent weeks, also.
After calling CQ to the south this morning and getting several Europeans
instead, I turned the beam northeast and worked a couple of mobiles. In
addition, Osama called me (that is, 9K2OD in Kuwait!)
