Well, as I think I said earlier, if I'm going to have to spend money, my 
preference would be to go with direct USB connections, thereby eliminating 
the potential for additional potential problems with drivers and the like.

But, I certainly will pursue the adapter option if that ultimately is the 
only way to go.
