Howard,
I have been checking out a program called digitalk .  There are some bugs 
in it but my friends are trying to get it working real soon.
In stead of  using a TNC, you have cables from your radio to a separate 
usb sound card.
Digitalk suppose to have it's own screen reader software  so you do not have 
to use jaws or a hyper terminal.
As soon as we have it up and running my Elmer Steve will put together a read 
me file and or a audio tutorial
So that is all I know so far.
