Hi Michael,

I use a C line set of twins for my vintage station. It depends on which one
I have controlling the frequency on which emission I am using. I have
gotten the impression on AM that the transmitter controlling the frequency
allows me to tune more accurately on a signal and be on frequency to his
receiver. Usually on SSB I use the receiver as control. And, I did
purchase crystal for 3870 AM and use them split and just use the spot
function to make sure the receiver is on frequency. I find I can get fairly
close with the crystal calibrator which is every 25 kHz as we did in the old
days. The tuning ratio is 25 kHz per dial revolution so it is quite simple
to do a little math and get things close.

I hope this helps a little and very 73.

Hi all:=20

Anyone operate a set of Drake Twins? I was just wondering how the =
frequency tuning was handled.=20
Do you set it up so that either the transmitter handles the tuning or =
receiver but having separate isn't possible from a visually impaired =
user?=20
I'm thinking of going back to the classics, and if can find either a set =
of Drake 4C twins, TR-4CW/RIT, or my beloved Yaesu FT-102, all in gd =
condition. Might sell my remote HF station to buy and be a weekend op. =20=
