Hi gang,
I used to knot the wire until it became shorter than the other. I add a
little black electrical tape to the negative wire as a flag or wrapped
around the wire. Gary KB2YAA

    Colin:

Yes, I've heard of the knot approach to marking the positive lead, and agree
that it is very very reliable.

May have to graduate to that step here if my dymo labels don't stay on, but
so far so good.

it's too bad they stopped including the wallwart with the meters...though I
don't think they ever included it with the tw2...when I got my tw1 years ago
from HRO, it came with a wallwart and the power supply leads.
those leads have come in rather handy a few times for other projects and
devices.
I have a talking multi-meter with the audible continuity tester, so figuring
out which wire is which with an outside ground and posative center pin is no
problem at all.
I also always put a single knot in the posative/red/hot wire so that I
always always know which is which...labels can fall off and so on...a knot
never comes out.
apparently this is a more common practice than I thought...i've met a few
sighted electronics geeks who do the same thing so they can easily tell
which wire is which in low lighting or hard to see locations.
