the Yaesu FT450 is also around the same price range and has similar 
features...it also comes stock with the speech synth.
The IC706 mark II G  has dropped a little on ebay and one can be had now for 
around $400 in good shape.
ts570D's, that is the one without 6M, has been seen by this ham for around 
$450 to $550 on ebay.
That radio and a vs3 will have you going quickly...and they're a great HF 
rig.
