If you can't get an adapter; solder a PL259 connector to a quarter
wave rod and you have your two meter antenna.  Damned if I know how
you would work out a dual band substitute!!  Just thought of that as
I am writing!!  Years ago I had a metal cylinder with a BNC adapter
in its top and a sort of alligator clip on the side and a piece of
very thin coax coming out of the bottom, terminated in another BNC
connector.  It got the antenna off the handheld and just outside the
window and was a cheap and dirty way to improve your signal a
bit.  Haven't seen that piece in years but only have one old handheld
with a BNC connector anyway so guess it's no longer important!!
