That's an interesting observation.  Now, all I have to figure out is how to 
have three hands--one for the mic PTT, one for the NR switch, and one for 
the on-off button.  (grin)

Tom,

Depending on how that foot switch is hooked into the circuit, you may have
to use the actual PTT button on the mic.  You may have just been keying the
transmitter, which might account for why there was no speech.
