I think the latest firmware update is 2008, so you might be ok with the rig 
that you have.

My two TS480's are borderline, though, which is why I'm interested in at 
least seeing if the upgrade is needed.

I have been reading this thread with some interest.

I purchased my TS480SAT from Universal Radio in March of 2010.

Has there been a new firmware update since then?
