 Keith, I use a circuit that I got the schematic from the Braille Tech Press 
way back about 1961.  It is a comparator circuit and goes across a Ham 4 
control box meter. It looks crappy  but has worked since.  Wish I still had 
that book with the circuit.  73 Ed   K7UC
