Hello Alonzo, I use the IC-718 on a daily basis. While the UT-102 
speech module (not included) does read S-meter and frequency, it does 
not read the menus. It is considered to be an entry level, yet feature 
packed rig. I am happy with the radio and will be glad to answer any 
specific questions you have.
