Slightly off topic, but potentially useful info.

Kendall

*50* year old trilobite diagnosed in November 1960, shunted in April 1961,
diagnosed with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy in 1963, intraoperative
stroke during a shunt revision in 1977, resulting in left hemiplegia. Shunt
free since 1978 (fenestrated cerebello-pontine angle cyst) - the "silver
lining" to the stroke and an infection in 1977. I've worked in the
disabilities field since 1988, and have been married to Janet, IMHO, the
most wonderful woman in the world, since 1997.

Dear colleagues;

Join the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in recognizing EITC Awareness
Day<http://www.disability.gov/clickTrack/confirm/?exitUrl=Zh5G5AlpiTLd7bzyyCNvnK8u8XQeBjB21TEwZu1cs1092UK%2B8MgGV1h%2FWwOEt4br&embedded=true&external=false>on
*January 28, 2011*. The EITC is a refundable federal income tax credit for
working individuals and families with low to moderate incomes. Did you know
that individuals with disabilities (25 percent of whom live below the
poverty level) continue to leave millions of dollars in EITC unclaimed each
year?

The IRS has answers to frequently asked
questions<http://www.disability.gov/clickTrack/confirm/?exitUrl=Zh5G5AlpiTIMcNLOIeChEZ%2FQmu8h0d6MN2Cckfx7UY3kNW%2FFG25lAKTKndF86UWcyNIs7fXVby2yI4xDXk9jFw%3D%3D&embedded=true&external=false>,
as well as an EITC Assistant
tool<http://www.disability.gov/clickTrack/confirm/?exitUrl=Zh5G5AlpiTIMcNLOIeChEZ%2FQmu8h0d6MN2Cckfx7UY3kNW%2FFG25lAExQ6Km8HdmJFuKxJxtD3drnaVBodw0r%2BA%3D%3D&embedded=true&external=false>to
help you find out whether or not you should claim this credit. You may
also be interested in a webinar, titled “How Earned Income Tax Credits Can

hosted by the Assets for Independence Resource Center on January 24th at 3
p.m. EST. This webinar will discuss common misunderstandings that prevent
individuals with disabilities from filing their taxes and claiming their
EITC.

The IRS also describes seven tax deductions, income exclusions and credits
that are available for qualified taxpayers with disabilities in its
brochure, “Living and Working with
Disabilities<http://www.disability.gov/clickTrack/confirm/?exitUrl=Zh5G5AlpiTIMcNLOIeChEcmosfAfTzZ4fgI8LDKXGqXJ3dL0v2b8UtEmbZKnvT1g&embedded=true&external=false>.”
These deductions include Impairment-Related Work Expenses; Credit for the
Elderly or Disabled; Medical Expenses; and the Child or Dependent Care Tax
Credit.

In addition, the IRS offers free tax return preparation
services<http://www.disability.gov/clickTrack/confirm/?exitUrl=Zh5G5AlpiTIMcNLOIeChEZ%2FQmu8h0d6MN2Cckfx7UY3kNW%2FFG25lANgrkhZh3YK81SHZ7gWScWrnaVBodw0r%2BA%3D%3D&embedded=true&external=false>through

Kendall

An unreasonable man (but my wife says that's redundant!)

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one
persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress
depends on the unreasonable man.

-George Bernard Shaw 1856-1950
